Farina Azam
Trainee Solicitor
Farina is Travlaw’s newest recruit and comes bursting with new ideas and enthusiasm.
Having earned a distinction in her LPC, Farina went on to gain experience with some of the big law firms in Leeds. There she learnt about the complexities of commercial litigation but wasn‘t keen on the firm’s aggressive, competitive approach to colleagues.
Joining the team in January 2010, Farina started her training contract with the firm in April 2010 and enjoys the variety of work the position offers.
She said: "My commercial litigation background means that I’ve got the experience to know what clients want and I understand their needs."
Career highlight to date? "I was really, really pleased with getting my distinction - I wasn’t expecting it at all. The LPC is so intensive and there was so much work to do. I just wanted to pass and then the exams just went really well and I realized I had a talent! And of course, there was starting my training contract at Travlaw!”
Favourite holiday? "My parents come from Pakistan and own properties there. I go every two to three years. We’ve got a house in a rural area where my grandparents live and then another in the capital so we get to see the best of both worlds."
Anywhere you’re longing to go? "Loads of places. Thailand is probably top - it looks amazing."
Best piece of law advice? "For clients I would say as soon as something happens make sure you get all the information you may need to defend it as a claim - witness statements, evidence, photographs – you’ll be able to make a stronger case that way." |
