Travlaw’s annual “Big Tent Event” is a key date in the calendar for the industry to consider the big questions & topics of the day – but this year they raised some serious money for a good cause too!
There was a capacity audience to see the panel discussion which, as ever, tackled the big questions currently facing the industry in the wake of Thomas Cook’s collapse, and with Brexit imminent. Panelists Kelly Cookes from Advantage Travel and Simon Bunce of ABTA discussed the failure of Britain’s oldest travel agent suggesting that the effects of the collapse are much more wide than we know, and that lessons are there to be learned amid the subsequent fallout. Simon Calder of The Independent talked about impending Brexit and our own Senior Partner Matt Gatenby offered his opinions & insight on the big issues, all moderated by Chris Photi of event sponsors White Hart Associates.
The chosen charity, When You Wish Upon a Star held a raffle headlined by a top prize of a ‘Once in a Lifetime’ trip to Lapland generously donated by Magic of Lapland. Donations on the night meant that over £1500 was raised to help grant the wishes of children living with a life threatening illness.
Post-panel, networking, Big Tent Event style, was enjoyed by the great and good of the travel industry, many of whom had come from overseas to attend this year.
