Ethan Lam

Originally from Hong Kong, Ethan joined the Travlaw team as a paralegal in May 2025. Before joining the firm, he worked in the housing disrepair department of a Manchester-based law firm, assisting tenants in claims against local authorities and housing associations.

Ethan first came to the UK to study Law at Newcastle University. Drawn in by the vibrant, friendly British culture (and a good Sunday roast!), he decided to stay and pursue a legal career here. After graduating, he went on to complete the LPC and graduated in July 2024 with a Distinction.

Outside of work, Ethan is a keen table tennis player and regularly competes in both individual and league tournaments. He also enjoys hiking—whether exploring the countryside of the Peak District or the scenic trails in Hong Kong.

My favourite place

My favourite place is Porto—a relaxed city steeped in history and full of character. I love wandering its cobbled streets, with old trams rattling past and the sun shining overhead. The hearty food and cheap beer make every meal a treat, and there’s something special about watching the traditional boats glide along the Douro. The towering iron bridges and riverside views give the city a nostalgic, almost timeless feel.
